My etsy store

Sorry about a bit of salesmanship here... hee.. It's been a while since I updated my etsy shop, but I have several new things there now... and, my current favorite, SPOOL jewelry. I will gladly take custom orders, just contact me. Here are some of the spool jewelry items currently for sale:

Each spool is inked or hand painted first with crackle medium then acrylic paint. Each spool center was wrapped with October Afternoon's patterned paper. Then the spools were also coated with two coats of Mod Podge for protection from water, though I would not recommend immersing it in water. The spools were beaded onto clear or black pleather cord. They measure aproximately 7&1/2" long.

July Midnight Rooster sneaks!

The sneaks are up and the July Midnight Rooster kit is sooo pretty!

Here are sneaks of what I have made using this month's kit! Be sure to check out the Midnight Rooster site for the full reveal and for when the kit goes on sale.

First Time Golfers!

I was telling my kids yesterday that we were having a lot of first time experiences together this summer- yesterday was their first time playing miniature golf! Angie and I took our kids to Lunar Golf at one of our local malls! It was GREAT!- inside (aka: air conditioned), the price was pretty cheap and the kids could play up to THREE rounds of miniature golf for the price. There was no-one else playing while we were there and the kids just had a great time! Everything glows in the dark, it's kinda dark and fun! Here are some pictures of our little golfers (Delaney didn't hold still long enough for me to get a picture)...

Creative Charms projects.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Creative Charms will be releasing a special embellishment kit- it will be shown at CHA. It's full of lovely pink things that are sure to make you smile!

I made two projects with this little embellishment kit... first, a jeweled heart love frame.

I used the pink gradient gem stickers on the chipboard heart that I had at home. Simply cover your favorite chipboard shape with the little gems and adhere to the outside of the frame. Place patterned paper on the inside of the small frame. Add a rubon if desired.

Next, I used this special set to make a card.

I used the light pink gem brads, a pink 3d butterfly brad and a few radiant sequin flowers.
One of my favorite things to do with the radiant sequin flowers is to layer them with other flowers, as you can see on this card. Also, the gem stickers from the kit make a fun little flight path for the butterfly.

This card was made with more fantastic Creative Charms products - these are not part of the special pink kit...

Best Friends card.
supplies:
Vintage Poppies with Pearl Brads - PURPLE, Vintage Brads - PURPLE, Netted Flower.

Have a happy Friday!

Summertime with the kids!

Family update time:
This is the first few days of summer... spending it with Alexander and Audrey home together!
We have done so much in the first few days...
Monday-- Hands on Children's museum
Tuesday--Bike ride in the morning. Local library to sign up for the summer reading program. We stayed for story time and did a craft.
Wednesday-- Took the kids bowling with some friends.

They've never been bowling The kids loved it.. see..

Every morning we're doing a devotional (short and geared toward kids). We've been doing the Put On devotion from Doorposts.com

Designed to help your family “put on” the character qualities of God’s children. Based on Colossians 3:12-14, it will lead you in studying what the Bible says about:

* Compassion
* Kindness
* Humility
* Meekness
* Patience
* Forbearance
* Forgiveness
* Love

We're taking our time thru these... the first lesson is about putting on compassion and it's represented by mittens or gloves on the hands, using our hands to share love and show kindness. So, they've cut out their paper doll and boy doll and cut out the mittens for those. We also simply printed out some online coloring pages that were two mittens with hearts on them... perfect!

In the afternoon we're working with Scholastic's Summer Express book. Alexander seems to enjoy it and it's a good time to work together.

The last few days we've spent the time after we get done with the workbook either coloring, watercoloring or playing playdough.

We're looking forward to lots of fun times this summer... cousins are coming from Africa soon, playdates with our playgroup, VBS....

Hope you're staying cool and having fun!

Alexander's remodeled room and last day of Kindergarten!

In one week... I have completely redecorated Alexander's bedroom~! Talk about fun but exhausting work! Brian went out of town this past week for work and I started in on Alexander's room Monday after dropping him off to school. I took everything out, even the heavy stuff, painted the walls, painted the waves at the top of the walls, went thru all the toys, etc.

My friend, Angie, lent me her Kim Hughes stamps and her overhead projector so I could paint some little sea animals onto canvas. I also painted a little wooden boat and a little wooden treasure box to match. The framed shell was also put together by me. My mom came and helped me hang all the decorations on the wall. He loves how it turned out and I really enjoyed doing this for him!

Today was also Alexander's last day of Kindergarten! We are so proud of him - he received an award for making E/S+ honor roll for the year and an award for reaching his reading goal for the year! Go Bubba! Here is a picture of him at school on his last day!

hodge podge kindof day

First, some recent cards made with October Afternoon's goodness:

The first one is so simple with all the letter stickers from October Afternoon, but I think it looks so fun- got the idea from one of my daughter's t-shirts with a similar design.

family stuff:

Happy Birthday to my neice Anna~ (my brother's girl- they are missionaries in Zambia... check out their blog to read about them) We love you girly~

Our Memorial Day weekend was fun! Friday was spent playing in our little pool in the back yard. Brian got the kids a slip and slide and tried to show them how to do it. They weren't sure about the running, jumping down on the thing, etc... So, Brian showed them how to do it himself... um, hilarious! I promised him I wouldn't put the pictures of him on the slip and slide on the blog... he was so sore the next day~ ha!
Here are a few photos of the kids over the weekend...

Last, Alexander's church choir is done for the year. One of the things FBC tries to do is teach children the old hymns of our faith... the meaty, wonderful, sometimes deep songs that teach us so much. They do that by having a hymn the children memorize monthly. The kids get a cd with the hymns for the year on it at the beginning of the year. Each month the kids can sing the first verse and chorus of that month's hymn to the teacher. If the child sings them all for the year they get an award... here's Alexander tonight... He got his award for hymn memorization~ yay!
